Our caring and experienced staff will make your child’s dental visit to us comfortable and fun!
We recommend seeing a dentist soon as your child has teeth or by their first birthday, whichever comes first.
As a team we have a keen interest in Paediatric dentistry. Most of our staff have children of their own and understand what it means to offer a caring, nurturing and friendly service to your child.
Child Dental Benefits Schedule
Butler dental will be participating in the Medicare Child Benefit scheme (CDBS). This government scheme allows 2-17 year olds of eligible families with Medicare to receive up to $1000 benefit over two consecutive years towards a wide range of treatments including dental examination, radiographs, hygiene appointments, restorations such as fillings, root canal treatment, extractions and inhalation sedation.
Also know as dental sealants are a preventative dental treatment, where a plastic material is placed in the deep pits, grooves and fissures of the chewing surfaces of teeth (primary or permanent molars and premolar teeth at the back of the mouth). These teeth are considered the most susceptible teeth to dental decay due to their anatomy which inhibits protection from saliva and fluoride and favours plaque accumulation instead. The aim of placing a dental coating or sealant is to create a smooth self cleansing surface to prevent plaque accumulation and hence prevent dental caries.
Wearing a custom fitted mouthguard while participating in sports is vitally important to help prevent a dental injury. A custom made mouth guard is made by taking an impression of your teeth and a plaster model. We will accurately assess your mouth and provide the best fit, size and coverage and thickness in a mouthguard made especially for you.
Inhalation sedation for children (oxygen/nitrous oxide sedation or laughing gas)
This form of sedation is extremely useful for children of ages 5 to 17 years.
- that are nervous and anxious of receiving dental treatment
- that require complex dental treatment like root canal treatment and large restorations
- for multiple orthodontic extractions that can be completed in one appointment using inhalation sedation
- minimises the need for a general anaesthetic (in hospital) for dental treatment
The wand anaesthetic machine
The wand provides a painless, stress-free alternative to dental anaesthesia.
If your child is particularly anxious of receiving a needle we can offer a pain free dental anaesthetic system that delivers a computer regulated flow of anaesthetic. It makes the injection easier and more comfortable!
All our patients at Butler Dental will have this option at no extra cost.
