Dr Carmen Leong - Dentist
Bachelor of Dental Science (Honours) UWA
I graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science Honours degree from the University of Western Australia in 2013. I then moved to Bunbury, regional of WA and started my dental career in the Dental Health Services(DHS) at the Southwest Health Campus where I mostly managed medically complex and the older population. After six months, I started work at a private practice in Bunbury, where I was mainly seeing children, young adults and families. Juggling both public and private dentistry allowed me to understand and manage my patients in a holistic manner.
I enjoy all aspects of general dentistry which involves the prevention, diagnosis and management of a wide variety of conditions, disorders and diseases affecting the teeth, gums and maxillofacial region. I take pride in building valuable rapport with all my patients ensuring good communication and offering them quality dentistry.
I am able to provide nitrous oxide sedation for the dentally anxious group of patients and dedicate more time to helping them overcome the fear of dentists and undergoing dental procedures. These patients and I end up having a very trusting relationship in which they are more inclined to come in for their six monthly checkups and take the necessary preventative steps to avoid major toothaches and/or discomfort.
Furthermore, I believe that health in general is not just the absence of disease but a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being; good oral health is a significant part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
I have a professional membership with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and the Australian Dental Association. In addition, I regularly attend seminars and courses to keep up to date within the field of dentistry.
Needless to say, I enjoy my work to life balance leading an active and healthy lifestyle. Moreover, I love exploring my creative side by making soaps and trying out new recipes in the kitchen.
